Literature Text

His fingers brushed her pallid cheek,
Leaving a trace of talc on his skin.
Curious, he kissed her
Which, again, left residue
Now on his lips.
The girl was still
And sad,
Ashamed, for she had been
Discovered.
She did not move
As he brushed away the powder,
And slowly, his eyes became wide
And her eyes closed in desperation,
As he revealed the lie...

Beneath the powder,
She was nothing.
My relationship with makeup.
